A series of black and white photographs showing someone using a camera in a mountainous landscape setting.

Hi! I’m Kate,

ABOUT

a photographer based in Munich, Germany.

I’ve been shooting for so long, I honestly can’t remember a time without a camera in my hands. After school, I was torn between photography and biology — photography won in the end, though I still finished a master’s degree in botany. So yes, I can probably name every flower in your bouquet.

If you’ve looked through my photos, maybe you’ve already picked up a bit of who I am. I believe photography is a reflection — we show what matters to us. And if something in that speaks to you, I’m truly glad. That connection means everything.

People often tell me I can make anyone feel comfortable — even those who hate being in front of the camera. I’d like to think that’s my superpower. My goal is to create a space where you feel at ease, natural, and seen.

I pay attention to your energy — how you move, how you interact, what feels true to you. From there, I use light, mood, and visual language to reflect the best version of you in that moment. Not forced or perfect — but elevated, honest, and quietly powerful. Something that feels like you, but seen through a beautiful lens.

I often think of families as trees. And photography? It’s like nourishment for the roots. Those warm, meaningful moments help you stay grounded, grow, and remember what matters — especially when life gets messy.

I really love the idea that, maybe, my photos can help those roots grow strong. That they’ll help build something solid and lasting — like a big, wild, beautiful oak.

I was trained in a very demanding and serious photography school. One of my mentors was the chief photographer at National Geographic, and I started out as a documentary photographer. That shaped the way I see. I care deeply about composition, light, emotion — all the layers that make an image complex, sometimes even ironic, but always interesting.

I was born in Russia, half-Kalmyk (a Mongolian ethnicity) and half-Ukrainian. Now I live among the Bavarian mountains with my wonderful husband, who often helps me during shoots — you might even meet him.

I speak English, Russian, and ein bisschen Deutsch. I still love biology, don’t love coffee (sorry), but I do love early mornings, mountain hikes, and meditation.

That’s me — and I can’t wait to get to know you, too.
